Gratiela Tardei, MD, PhD, is the head of the molecular biology laboratory at Personal Genetics. She has a strong background in molecular biology consisting of more than 10 years of research and clinical laboratory diagnostic activities using end-point and real time PCR based assays, both in house designed and IVD licensed. She became familiar with the human genome analysis and manipulation since 1999, when she optimized and used in the molecular biology laboratory of Stefan S. Nicolau Institute of Virology, an RFLP-PCR technique to demonstrate the deletion of 32 bases in the CCR5 gene, in HIV infected in Romania, within a nationally funded project (ANSTI Grant) that she conducted. In 2003 she used, from a Japanese paper, a new RFLP-PCR test to investigate MxA gene polymorphism in HCV infected patients, in order to correlate with the sustained virological response vs. non response to interferon alpha treatment. Over the last 7 years she was involved in HIV sequencing for subtyping and antiretroviral resistance IVD testing, only dealing with sequencing data produced by external laboratories, that she analyzed in freely available data bases (Stanford HIV db Program, Bioafrica.net). Personal Genetics SRL is a private health care provider with a focus on human genetic diagnostic on the and genetic research & development on the other hand.
