Using my multidisciplinary background in toxicology and the molecular biology of cancer, I continue to strive for excellence in research. I first developed my molecular biology expertise in a plant genetics laboratory, then transitioned to studying estrogen exposure of breast cancer cells to complete my Ph.D. training. My current position as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences concentrates on understanding the regulation of the liver cytochrome (CYP) P450 genes. Throughout my career, I have gained lecturing experience giving seminars on my work to large audiences. I have had the opportunity to travel and present coherent stories of my research data at local and national meetings, and act as mentor and supervisor to students, which I believe is the most rewarding aspect of teaching science. Under my guidance and with no previous lab experience, the student was able to independently perform complex experiments to study protein interactions within the nuclear compartment by the end of his term.
